"I couldn't afford the dress, I couldn't afford the hoopla. So I went to the beach with my friends and we got a six pack."So, when Santa Cruz City Councilman Tony Madrigal approached Whittington, the owner of Classic Cleaners, to help out with a prom dress giveaway for teenagers who cannot afford the high cost of preparing for all the pomp and circumstance, Whittington immediately identified with the cause."I acted like I was too cool to go to prom, but secretly I really wanted to go," Whittington said. "I just didn't have the money. There is a special feeling when you get dressed up, especially when it's around the time of graduating high school. You are stepping into adult life, it's a transformation. That transformation can be at the beach with a six pack
