The Southern Oregon Historical Society will host “Glitz and Glamour” on a Sunday Afternoon prom dresses 2011, a tea and fashion show of gowns from the personal collection of Ginger Rogers. The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at the Rogue Valley Country Club.2011 marks the 100th anniversary of Ginger Rogers’ birth. To commemorate this event, the historical society will host a fashion show featuring twenty gowns owned by Ms. Rogers. These gowns from her personal collection include dresses that she wore on the Bob Hope Show and in night club performances. The event will feature live music; a recreation of a famous Ginger Rogers – Fred Astaire dance routine; music reminiscent of her movies; a presentation by Roberta Olden plus size prom dresse 2011, Ms. Rogers’ personal secretary; and a silent and live auction of Ginger Rogers memorabilia including items owned by Ms. Rogers White prom dresses, like shoes and a gown. Rosemary Harrington will be the Mistress of Ceremonies. A souvenir program will feature photos of Ginger from her Hollywood days and photos taken of her while she lived in the Rogue Valley.There are 18 tuxedo clad gentlemen from throughout Southern Oregon escorting models to the fashion runway. Included and representing Eagle Point is Richard Gyuro A-Line dresses, Alpacas at Lone Ranch, president-elect, Eagle Point-Upper Rogue Chamber.Representing the Shady Cove-Upper Rogue Chamber is Rob Kleker and Joe Meerten; Tami Meerten, Shady Cove Chamber president ball gown dresses, will join a table of 10 representing chamber members and others from the Upper Rogue region.Attendees to the event are encouraged to use the occasion to dress up. “We are hoping to make this event something that Ginger herself would have enjoyed. Attendees should feel free to wear sequins cheap guest dresses, feathered boas, or Hollywood gowns!” says Allison Weiss, Executive Director of the historical society. “It’s also a perfect mother-daughter afternoon, the week before Mother’s Day.”In 1940 Ginger Rogers purchased a 1000 acre ranch situated along the Rogue River, which she named Rogers Rogue River Ranch. Over the years Ball gowns, she visited the ranch frequently and ultimately retired to the Rogue Valley in 1969. Many residents remember her fondly, including Paul Becker, mayor of Jacksonville plus size prom dresse, the executor of Ginger Rogers’ estate. Sharon Wesner Becker 2011 prom dresses, Paul Becker’s wife and an active member of the historical costumed re-enactors groups Belles and Beaus, is the artistic director of the show.The event is a benefit for the Southern Oregon Historical Society.
